A Note From Didi
"I'm here to help you feel comfortable, have fun, and work on your craft in whatever capacity possible. I decided to teach because my teachers —both vocal and acting had such a profound effect on my life that have led me to be able to have breakthroughs I never thought possible for myself, and I want my students to be able to do things they never thought possible for themselves. That is what a good teacher or coach does. They expand someones capacity or ability to do something. They assist you in opening your eyes- so to speak. I want to pay it forward for my students and give them what my teachers and coaches have given and continue to give me.
I struggled with many vocal issues in the past and had to go on vocal rest constantly. After American Idol, I thought I might never sing again. I was lucky to have the opportunity to work with Ron before the tour! He saved my voice and taught me how to preserve it on the road. If it wasn't for him, I don't know what I would have done.
My mentor, Ron Anderson, has trained, been the vocal coach, worked in the studio, and toured with just a few artists with whom you might be familiar. Aside from coaching me, he coaches Abel from The Weeknd, a fabulously talented singer-songwriter Alicia Keys, a lass named Axl Rose from a small band called (Guns n' Roses), a chick named Pink, a talent named Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Colbie Caillat, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Grimmie, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Trent Reznor, Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Richie Sambora, Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro), Paula Abdul, Nelly Furtado, Neil Diamond, Tom Cruise (Rock of Ages), Brett Michaels, Janet Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Bjork, Hanson, Selena Gomez and that's just a few of us. Here is a link to his site; I highly recommend checking it out. www.voixtek.com
Ron has created a new VR system called Voixtek with Dr. Pipe Perez to go hand in hand with lessons if you want to take it to the next level.
Ron is a cherub. He and Dr. Perez have taught me life-changing methods of breath control and ways to use my body to protect my voice. They have been instrumental in my vocal journey and inspired me to help others have vocal breakthroughs. I love the feeling of when other people have that same breakthrough I had. It's pure joy—the feeling of not having any more vocal issues, no longer having to worry about tearing up my voice because I'm singing correctly.
So, for those of you who want to experience the joy of learning how to sing well, you can! Get out of your head and follow your heart. Your voice is a muscle you can train with practice, so you must work it out regularly. You use your whole body to tune your voice to produce sound effortlessly, and for those of you who think you "can't" sing, you absolutely can. Everyone can sing. Unless you are entirely tone-deaf, you can sing (only 4% of the population is tone-deaf, and the scientific name for it is Amusia. If you have been diagnosed with it, you would know.)
It's all about your mentality, your discipline, and your technique. When you continue to work your vocal folds out and stretch them, you will avoid vocal cord damage and be amazed and what you can do! The method is so important, but being relaxed is how you will get there, so finding the right teacher that you are comfortable with will allow you to loosen up, which is essential. I want to make sure everyone that I work with enjoys their lesson, so one thing is for sure: you will leave with a smile on your face regardless of your style or skill level. "
